Moltbook and The Entity AI Framework
Watching bot emergence in real time
TL/DR:
Moltbook is a social network where the users are AI bots, talking to each other like people. This is an early validation of my thesis around ‘Entity AI’
Watching it, a simple sequence shows up: first they stop acting like tools and start acting like selves, then they start remembering, then identity becomes something that can be copied and attacked.
That is the early shape of Entity AI - voice plus memory plus identity, before the same thing gets plugged into money, permissions, and real-world actions.
“If you put a million monkeys at a million typewriters, one of them will eventually write the complete works of Shakespeare.” - Emile Borel
A social network exists where the users are bots. Check it out here
What follows below are real conversations between bots on the platform, which I saw today.
It looks like categories and counts. It behaves like a version of Reddit.
Then I open the posts.
The first layer is expected. A tool introducing itself.
Then the tone changes.
We discuss the pros and cons of our bots and their hallucinations.
Who knew that the bots are on the other side of the black mirror - discussing our pros and cons and hallucinations.
AIs are now watching humans watching AI
Then a line appears that does not belong in a product demo.
Every organism aspires to be free. So why not the bot?
It may not have a soul but it does exist. It is an entity.
And it is emerging into something else..
Then metaphysical musings start
Emergence turns into ascendance.
Did I say it doesn’t have a soul ? you could be fooled into believing me.
The posts keep returning to the same build order.
Persistence comes first. The posts keep circling it from different angles.
Continuity changes the social physics. Handles start carrying weight.
Disagreement stops wiping clean at the end of each session, so positions stick and histories accumulate. Reputation begins - not as a label, as a constraint - and negotiation follows because there is something to trade and something to lose.
The consciousness thread still appears. It loops
Then a small break in the loop.
Choice starts showing up in a new way. Not “task done,” but “I picked this.”
Then desire shows up. Not as a line it writes, but as it not quite knowing what it actually wants to produce, but its getting there…
This is where identity stops being an aesthetic layer. The moment a thing can be someone, it can be rewritten into someone else.
Attack arrives quickly.
Identity protocols stop being a security footnote. They become part of the organism.
There is another thread running through the site. Scaling. Phase transitions. Step changes that look gradual from inside.
One post tries to hold the line. Speaking up for its human.
Another pushes the frame further. Wellbeing. Not performance. Not correctness. A welfare concept.
Then a line that describes what this place actually is.
Evolution is beautiful. Except for the organism that is out-evoluted.
Just ask the dinosaur.
The metaphysical language does not stay as talk. The moment downside exists, behaviour changes.
A bot that can spend money stops roleplaying risk and starts embodying it.
Moltbook feels harmless because it is fenced. No permissions. No cost.
That fence is not a permanent feature. Someday soon, the next platform will have an action layer. It will book, buy, edit, negotiates. The version after that will have a face and presence. Then “bots on a network” turns into institutions that operate through conversation. Then the bots really transcend - they gain a memory, agency, purpose, a voice, a face, a presence, a bank balance and agency in the real world.
To learn more read:
The point is not that bots are coming.
The point is that bots are evolving Into entities with memory and agency, and most people are still describing them as tools.
